Malaria Pf/Pv Antigen Rapid Test is a rapid, qualitative test for the detection of Plasmodium falciparum and/or Plasmodium vivax, (Plasmodium orale and Plasmodium malariae) antigen in whole blood. The test uses antibodies that are specific for the histidine-rich protein 2 antigen (HRP-2) of Malaria P.f. and Plasmodium aldolase for the detection of all malaria Plasmodium species.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

ASSAY PROCEDURE

1. Allow all reagents and samples to achieve room temperature.
2. Remove the cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a clean flat dry surface.
3. Add 5 ul of whole blood to the sample well. Now add 3-4 drops of buffer (~100 ul). Start the timer.
4. Interpret the test result in 20 minutes. Discard the cassette after 20 min. to avoid incorrect results.

SAMPLE COLLECTION AND PREPARATION

Whole Blood:
Drops of whole blood can be obtained either from finger or vein puncture. Whole blood should be stored not more than 3 days in refrigerator at 2-4 degrees if not used immediately.

Negative results:

Only the control red band will appear.

Positive results:

Pf positive: Two red bands will appear. One in control zone and other in Pf (T2) zone.
Pv positive: Two red bands will appear. One in control zone and other in Pv (T1) zone.
Mixed positive: Three red bands will show up in Control, Pf (T2), & Pv (T1) zone.

Invalid results:

If no band shows up in the control zone, the test result is invalid even though red bands show up in Pf (T2) & or Pv (T1) zones. If no red bands show up in the test zone, the test is also invalid.
